About Me

Author: Mandie

First of all, I LOVE designing and sewing dresses, gowns, and costumes. I’ve been doing it for several years now, and I still have a blast and am completely stoked everytime I turn a huge, flat, formless piece of fabric into a beautiful garment.

I grew up all over the world, as my father was in the military, and we moved around a lot. I loved living in other countries and the unique and well-rounded worldview this gave me. I joined the US Army myself when I was 18, and spent time in Alabama, South Korea, and Kansas during my time of service. I was honorably discharged, and had a few other jobs before taking on this seamstress gig full-time.

I have used my skills as a seamstress and dressmaker for many different groups in my life. I am a historical re-enactor for both renaissance and “mountain man” time periods, and have made clothing for myself and many others for this. I also attend comic book and costume conventions, and make costumes for myself and others based on comic book and video game characters. I really enjoy these conventions, and recommend them to everyone! I’ve also done quilting and layettes for babies and lots of other textile crafts. All of these many different styles of sewing bring me skills and talents that can be applied to dressmaking, allowing me to bring unique techniques and details to my creations.

I have also begun a new craft, crochet. I have tried knitting before (a few times) and just ended up with a Gordian Knot… So I thought I’d try my hand at crochet. It’s working out great! I will try the knitting again, but for now I am enjoying the crochet. I have a profile at Ravelry.com, but for right now it is a closed community (It’s still in beta testing, and should be opened to the public soon.) When it does, you can find me with the user name Annjellicle, or click this icon: Ravelry Icon
